The Ultimate Spring Cleaning Guide for Your Apartment

Spring has sprung, and you might be feeling like it's time to give your apartment a little TLC! Whether you're moving out in May or sticking around for another year with us, a little refresh can make your space feel brand new. So let's do some spring cleaning and get things sparkling in just a few hours! Open those windows, let the fresh air in, and let's get this party started!

Living Room

First up, let's toss all the curtains, throw blankets, and pillow covers into the wash on a delicate cycle to get them squeaky clean! By starting here, they'll be clean by the time you're done with everything else!

Then, let's dust those surfaces from top down. We're talking ceiling fans to coffee tables and TV stands! Going in this order means you don't wipe dust down onto a surface you've already cleaned.

Next, let's give your furniture some love. Use the upholstery attachment on your vacuum to give them a good clean. For an extra refresh, sprinkle some baking soda on your cloth couches, let it sit for a few minutes, and then vacuum it up! If you're working with leather furniture, just wipe them down with a clean, damp cloth.

Then go ahead and wipe down those electronics, like your TV, so they're free of dust and fingerprints. Either use a soft, microfiber cloth, a feather duster, or wipes specifically formulated for electronics!

Finally, give those floors a good vacuum and mop. Oh, and if you're a fan of that little green machine,  don't forget to steam any rugs for a super deep clean!

Kitchen

Next stop is the kitchen! Start by cleaning out the fridge and freezer of any expired or unwanted food...yuck! Once those have been removed, pull out and set aside the food you're keeping, so you can give the shelves a good wipe down. Then you can put things back and do any TikTok-inspired organizing.

Pro-tip: Add a box of baking soda to the back of one of your shelves to keep things smelling fresh!

Move on by wiping down all those appliances, like the toaster, microwave, and air fryer. You can use any multi-purpose cleaner for these items. Do any dishes that may be left behind, get those counters and surfaces all sparkly clean, then tackle the stovetop and oven if you're feeling extra.

Finish things in the kitchen by washing any handtowels and giving those floors a good sweep and mop!

Bedroom

On to the bedroom! At this point, your living room laundry is likely wrapping up, so you can now switch things over and put your bedroom curtains, blankets, sheets, and pillowcases in on the delicate cycle.

Once you've got that mattress stripped of all your bedding, sprinkle some baking soda over it, let it sit for 15 minutes, then vacuum it up using your upholstery attachment. You won't believe how fresh your bed will smell when you climb in tonight!

Now, let's dust all those surfaces, electronics, and whatnot, starting with the ceiling fan and working our way down, just like we did in the living room.

Finally, give those floors a good vacuum and mop, and bring back that green machine for any area rugs!

Bathroom

And last but not least, the bathroom! First, let's wash all those towels, bathmats, and throw rugs once your bedding is finished cycling through.

While that's going, spray down all those surfaces, including the sink, toilet, bathtub, and shower walls, and let them soak.

While they're soaking, let's wipe down those mirrors and windows, then vacuum and mop the floors -- you know the drill.

Finally, let's wipe down all those surfaces that have been soaking to reveal that clean sparkle!
